  • BEST WEATHER: MAY
  • BEST WINTER MONTH TO VISIT: FEBRUARY

When is the best weather in Seville?

Seville can be explored all year round, with perhaps the exception being July and August when temperatures soar to 36 ºC (97 ºF) making it one of the hottest places in all of Europe. Unless you really enjoy the sweltering heat or have no other options, avoid those months. Otherwise, Seville has quite comfortable weather the rest of the year. The winters are much less crowded and the temperatures are warmer than in most other places in continental Europe.

HOLIDAYS & FESTIVAL TIMES

Holy Week: April 14-21 2020

Holy Week is a week long celebration in preparation for Easter Sunday. Seville takes this week very seriously and people prepare for it all year. Expect to see processions featuring lots of floats with carved figures, people dressed up in white clothing that looks eerily like the Ku-Klux-Klan and lots of crying. If this doesn’t particularly interest you, then avoid visiting during these days as the city gets extremely busy.

Feria de Abril: April 26 - May 2 2020

The Feria de Abril (April Fair) dates back to 1847 when it began as a livestock fair. Since then, it has developed into the biggest party in the south of Spain, covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers and featuring over 1000 casetas (tents). During the fair, all of the Andalusian stereotypes and cliches are in full swing – flamenco dancing, sherry drinking, bullfighting and of course, the donning of traditional clothing and costumes.

When to visit - monthly breakdown

  • January - High temperature is around 16 ºC or 61 ºF (coldest month of the year) and there are about 6 rainy days in the month. It is however, the least visited month of the year.
  • February - High temperature is around 18 ºC (64 ºF) and there are about 5 rainy days in the month. It is just slightly more busy than January. It’s probably the best winter month to visit.

It’s a 6 day festival of partying, dancing and celebrating local culture.
  • May - Temperatures get to 26 ºC (79 ºF) and the spring rain has normally come to an end (only 3 days rain on average). The gardens are in full bloom. It is one of the busiest months to visit, but there is a reason for it – the weather is as perfect as it gets.
  • June - Temperatures get to 32 ºC (90 ºF) and it is pretty dry. Less crowded than April and May.
  • July - Temperates get to a blazing 36 ºC (97 ºF) and it is the driest month of the year. This is the summer low-season. Unless you like it real hot, avoid this month.
