Best way to travel from Malaga to Ronda

  • Car is the fastest (1h 20 min) and most convenient option.
  • Using the bus is also a great alternative. Buses are slower (2 h to 3 h), but they are quite frequent (11 buses per day).
  • Taking part in an organized day tour is also convenient and relieves the stress of driving yourself.
  • Renfe offers just one daily connection (and it is actually a bus).

Car

Malaga and Ronda are separated by 100 km (62 miles) and the car ride takes around 1 h 20 min. The quickest route will take you via the A-357 and A-367 roads, leaving Malaga to the west.

It is also possible to go north from Malaga instead (direction Antequera) following the A-45 and then turn west after passing Antequera. This route, however takes about 1 h 45 min.

Bus

Traveling by bus between Malaga and Ronda is a great option. Since there are two companies offering this service, there are a lot of bus options:

  • Damas offers 7 daily buses. The trip takes between 2 h and 2 h 45 min. Expect to pay around 11€.
  • Avanzabus offers 4 buses per day. The journey lasts between 2 h 30 min and 3h. One ticket costs around 13€.

MALAGA'S BUS STATION

Malaga’s bus station is located south-west of the city center. To give you an idea, it is a 20-min walk to the cathedral. Several city bus lines connect the station with the center.

RONDA'S BUS STATION

Ronda’s bus station is located 1km (0.6 miles) north of the New Bridge.

Organized Day Tour

A comfortable air-conditioned bus will pick you up in either Malaga city, Torremolinos, Benalmadena or Fuengirola and take you on an 8-10 hour guided tour to Ronda and also Setenil de las Bodegas. No stress to figure out the bus system and no stress driving.

Train

Renfe is actually running one daily direct bus between Malaga and Ronda. The trip lasts 2 h and one ticket costs 15€.
